108 Yang Style Form – Phoenix Tai Chi London
Tai Chi started out with 13 basic movements and kept expanding until it reached 108 movements which are all variations on the basic 13.
There are now many shortened versions of this long form. The complete long form takes 20 minutes to go through, but it can be divided into three sections.
This form is performed with a poised uprising body and a slow even speed, with rather extended movements done in a smooth, rounded way. It is noted for its smooth and relaxed postures and gentle movements, soft but not weak, steady but not stiff. It naturally combines firmness with flexibilty, with profound inner strength.
